Vintage banner with Maya rose canvas and ribbons

I've had this banner since CHA (thanks Maya Road) and had been wanting to play with it since then. Posh Scraps, in Palm Harbor, just got all the new ribbons in and I was off and running! I dyed the banners with Glimmer Mist, attached everything with Fabri Tacand printed the vintage lovely ladies onto canvas paper then used Perfect Pearls in pink to high light their drapes and the flowers.

ACOT: Altered Objects Challenge for Sept

Every month, the CT members at A Cherry on Top, issue challenges for the membership. I do an altered challenge that centers around using objects most people would find around their house. In the past year, I have challenged members to use such things as coffee filters, empty boxes, ribbon, the cellophane packaging off embellishments, etc.

The challenge for this month is to open the tool box or odds and ends container for a tool box and use at least one of the items on a card, a layout or as an embellishment on either of them. I used a hinge and a rubber washer on this card.

Finally...the completed dress form

Some of you may remember that I was given this full sized tailor's dress form at Christmas from a friend, Gerri-anne. I finished the bodice almost immediately but have been futzing around with the rest.

I had declared this week, FINISH THINGS LEFT UNDONE WEEK, and this was at the top of my list. I still have not decided how to trim the hem but for now I am calling it done.

It is constructed entirely of tissue paper, ribbons, assorted flowers and bling and ribbons that I already had in my stash. The only purchase I made to construct this was a pack of the purple tissue paper I found at the dollar store. There is no stitching involved...just double sided tape and glue dots.

The Pennsylvania Bag Company

I have not made a paper bag mini album in eons. But this bag from Pennsylvania Bag Company inspired me to try once again. I made this mini for Jadee of the little girls at the beach this summer. And the handle just wraps around perfectly to serve as a closure. I may put some tags into the bag opener; the possibilities are endless.

The cute beachy papers are by October Afternoon and are called Seaside...so pretty and fun. And I also used some of My Mind's Eye's tags and chipboard pieces.

Pam B and I stumbled on the bag company at CHA and wait until you see the oh too cute Halloween bags this company has...they will steal your heart.

Wool Felt Flowers

I bought some wool felt at a wonderful fabric store near my house about a month ago along with a tufting tool. The owner was gracious enough to walk me through the process of tufting one piece to another. I did the larger flower with the tufting tool (love the effect but need lots of practice obviously) and the smaller without. The cool thing about wool felt as opposed to what you buy at Mike's or Jo's is that to get great curves and texture you just add water, work it in and let it dry. The dimensions are fantabulous! I am thinking of putting a pin back on the larger one and putting it on a pretty cotton top I have.

ACOT CHERRY GIRLS hit CHA in style

We made our class with plenty of time to spare...and we loved it! My Little Shoe Box class was one of the best I have taken since the one by Debbie Schuh that I took in St. Pete , Fl. earlier this year. The project is darling, the directions so clear and the instructors wonderful and friendly. Thanks MLSB








Inspired by MLSB, we all went back to or rooms to create. We made Cherry tees and altered martini glasses. We finally turned in after midnight. Pictures to follow of today'. fun

Look out CHA...here we come!

I am off today to fly to Wisconsin to first visit with my friend from A Cherry on Top, Pam B, and then on to CHA. Chicago may never be the same. I love to look at the new products but more so the not so scrappy stuff in other sections of the convention center. Last year, Roz and Kelcey discovered the button ladies and we made darling pins and Pam and I met the jewelry people who helped us create pretty necklaces out of swirls of color. I am entranced by the beads and the fibers and fabrics too so plan to spend a bit of time there as well as the inks, stamps and papers vendors.
