Promises Promises

More .fun stuff coming soon...I PROMISE.  Some times life gets in the way of our creative lives or perhaps that is what enhances it.  We have to live a daily life to reflect it in our creations, or so I believe.

I've been busy creating but nothing I can share before June 20th.

What have you been doing...post it here! Who knows; you may get in on a random drawing for some goodies!

LuminArte Twinkling H20s, Canvas Home Basics and Helmar USA: what a team!

After the instructors' class at Posh Scraps,  I was given three of Canvas Home Basic's Canvas Sacs as a thank you gift and could not wait to play.   Inspired by some of the beautiful bags created by students of Cheryl Mezzetti's, I decided to throw out my To Do List and play the day away.  These are the results.  I dyed the canvas bag and the envelope with Twinkling H20s and went on from there.
On this bag, I stamped the shell with Twinkling H20's using a technique I learned last night onto the bag and then onto a piece of June Tailor's Fabric Stick Adhesive Backed fabric sheets.  I heat set both images and, for the above sack, placed cotton on top.  I peeled off the back of the adhesive backed image and placed it over the top making sure all the edges were securely adhered.  I am a sucker for 3 D!

This is the envelope after I dyed it and heat set it. Next, I  used the Helmar all purpose adhesive to adhere the lace and trim.  I cut out the flowers from some fabric I had and used Helmar's Fabric Stiffener and Draping Liquid to give dimension to the shapes.   Although I could have heat set these, I allowed them to sun dry shaping them as they dried.  Then I used the Helmar's Liquid Glue dots under the shapes to keep them 3D.  It takes a while to dry but well worth the weight.

This is the back of the envelop.
Now, to clean up the mess in my room!

LuminArte and Creative Imaginations Instructor's class

And they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks.  I say HA!  Yesterday afternoon at Posh Scraps in Palm Harbor, a few of us who teach and/or design for the store, were invited to take part in an instructors' class given by Cheryl Mezzetti, the lead designer for Creative Imaginations.  Cheryl took us through a series of tags, refreshing us on some tried and true techniques, introduced us to some new approaches and ideas and showed us the limitless possibilities of the new products available from LuninArte and Creative Imaginations.    You can be sure I will be incorporating many of these into my upcoming classes.  Thank you so very much for the opportunity to take this class.
The embellishing paste was one of my favorites as it takes far less time to dry than molding paste, is puffier and absorbs color in a manner you have to see to believe.  Pardon my poor photographs as they do not do the tags and tech near justice.
Loved this stamp and way we applied the color to the tag.
Eons ago, I took months and months of water color classes.  How could I have forgotten this tech?
We played with the new Silks, an amazing acrylic paint that again, has to be experienced to be believed...the sheen, the sparkle...beyond description.  I used a leaf stencil here and deliberately allowed the paint to bubble under the heat gun to get the crumbly fall leaf look.
The paints and the papers and then a combo of spritz, paint, and the wonderfully improved Twinkling H20s for this flower.
And for the frugal scrappers and paper artists, it was suggested that we take our paper towels we used to clean up and dry with and run them through a die cutting machine.  While I am more of a shabby chic gal than a tie dye one, I really like these and will coat them with Hellmar's Textured Effects to seal them and make them a bit more durable.  I have found that if I put the paper towels between two pieces of waxed paper, the cuts are cleaner (just a tip).
I left the class refreshed, invigorated and inspired.  Thank you Michele, Cheryl and Phyllis!

Paint It! papers by Creative Imaginations and NSD make n takes

When Michele, owner of Posh Scraps, and I were talking about what kind of make n take to do for National Scrapbook Day, we both immediately thought of the wonderful possibilities of the Paint It Papers.  We decided to make these a learning experience for those attending the all day crop at Posh.  I showed the gals how I did each of the four tags and gave them precut tags and the supplies.  The directions for each were printed on the back of each tag.  We dyed ribbons (scroll below to see the directions for custom dying ribbons) and kicked up our paper flowers a notch or two with such wonderful fun things as Twinkling H20s and Stickles.

Hope your National Scrapbook Day was as much fun as ours at Posh!

Sweet Treasures

Due to a conflict of dates, I will be unable to teach this class at the Cheeky Chics upcoming scrapbook retreat, this June.  I will be first offering this class at my home away from home, Posh Scraps, who is my sponsor for the classes I teach at Cheeky Chics Scrapbooking Retreats.  I am hoping to teach this at either the September or November Cheeky Chics retreat as well.

This project measures 10.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 and has six little drawers for those 'sweet treasures' we cherish.  You will receive tons of product, learn some fun 'shabby chic' techniques and there are even some 'sweet treasures' for the drawers of your finished project.  We will finish the project with a sealer that also makes the paper appear like fabric!  A closer look at some of the details is available by scrolling down past this blog post. Click on the image above to getting a bigger view.

This class will be offered May 26th. from 1- approximately 3pm.  The cost is $28.00.  You can obtain more information or call for reservations for the class at 727-784-2928.  Class size will be limited so don't delay!

As always, thanks for reading my blog!
