The lost art of writing...

We have become a nation that picks up the phone, text messages, IMs, emails, chats via the web and Skypes. Inspired by great aunt and my aunt's post card collections that I inherited, I suggested to Pam Bennett with whom I shared a shift at A Cherry on Top's National Scrapbook Day weekend cyber crop, that for our Fast Scrap (a project to be finished in one hour) we challenge the members to design their own post card in the hopes they would send them to friends or family.

This is my post card. I printed a picture I took of the beach onto canvas and colored parts to emphasize the Kodakcrome color look of post cards of the 40s and 50s. I found a site that had hundreds of backs of postcards that could be printed out so I did and used colored pastel pencils to add a bit of pretty to the design.
I am sending my post card to a dear friend...will it be you?

EDITED to add link to post card backs

I, too, love postcards and just purchased a postcard stand from Pottery Barn for the new house. I'll fill it with travel postcards, postcard art prints that I just found at a discount store for 10 cents each(!!), and would love to back some of my favorite photos for the stand, too. Would you mind posting which website you found the printable backings? Love the one you did on canvas!

SO TRUE... I have a vast collection of vintage postcards, with all the beautiful cursive writing on the back. I often wonder if in 100 years they will even know what paper is?

beautiful Jules. I love it. I agree, writing is becoming a lost art.
