My challenge for Sat. at the ACOT crop

I challenged the women participating in the crop to create a shadow box or a display box out of a gift box. This was my sample. My gift box contained Christmas cards at one time and measured 6x6x2. I used the new G45 papers to create a shadow box of a gentleman's closet. I love G45. The entries to my challenge were awesome...bravo to all who did my Sat. morning challenge and thanks for playing.

In love with canvas paper

The March KnK kit contains, among other things, a 12x12 sheet of adhesive backed canvas paper. I have always been love with canvas paper reprinting most of my heritage photos on them and many of my altered vintage creations as well.

Today I played with painting, printing, stamping, and enhancing these with Stickles, pearlescent paints, watercolor crayons and pastel pencils. This card is an free downloaded image printed onto a die cut out of the canvas paper along with the border
and each painted with either glaze mixed with acrylic paint or pearlizer. I added Sticklesand tiny gems to finish the look.

This photo was printed on the canvas paper and then enhanced with pastel pencils and inks to give it that old post card appearance.

Gingersnaps Creations Color Challenge: 3 colors you love!

I discovered Gingersnaps Creations (http://www.gingersnapcreations.blogspot.com/) blog through a kind comment left on this blog by a very nice lady named Shar Briss, one of the dt members of the site. I back tracked to thank her for her nice words and discovered through her blog the Gingersnap one. Shar's blog is http://illtemperedink.blogspot.com/

Gingersnaps offers wonderful challenges to stampers, scrappers and altered artists of all kinds. The women are inspiring, warm and welcoming as well which makes this group even more appealing.

This is my attempt at the Color Challenge which is to use three colors you love on any project and my three are rust, soft pink and cranberry. I inked the butterflies to change the color a bit, hand dyed the tag with a color wash by Adirondack. I like the degrees of color saturation I can get by hand dying. I stamped with a larger than life acrylic stamp by Harmonie and the "Ooh La La" by Uptown Designs.

Bags and Tags

I spent a bit of time yesterday putting the final touches on the bags and tags. Now to package them and get them out into the mail. I have one more to do for my friend, Becky. I want to finish that before we meet to crop again. Thanks for looking! Yeah...a project finished!

Too late for Valentine Gifts...how about Easter?

I bought these tiny canvas totes at a craft store about three weeks ago and spent the day dying them and some tulle and tags to match. I worked on them for a bit and then life (and other commitments) got in the way. As usual, I cam home from yoga practice recharged and invigorated and tackled the tiny totes once again. I have finished four...and here three of them.



I used the dyed tulle for the third tote and pearls and paper flowers for the second and stamped on the first using painted on inks and a Krylon pen to enhance the stamping. I used a photo transfer iron on the 4th. and am saving the best for last, the one for my friend, Becky who loved the yellow-y green one so much she went through her stash hunting for the perfect embellishments for it!

Inspired by...

the cost of the darling little bird's nest and eggs we saw in a shop this past week. While the originals (last photo here) were hinged wooden boxes with glass windows, ours were cardboard jewelry display boxes with glass windows but no hinges. We did use some 1924 sheet music I bought and some MME's papers. We turned our corners down and found frames on sale to glue to the tops of the box lids. These took Linda and I about 30 minutes to make and about 1/4 the cost. It is a shame when items are so overpriced, that it is cheaper to make them oneself. The originals were priced at $35 and up.
