A work in progress...

This is the antique/vintage ceiling tile I am using for the cover on the dedication album to my Nana. Every time I go to punch the holes for the lovely ribbons, my hand shakes and I have to put the punch down. Hopefully today will be the day and hopefully I will get the holes properly positioned. I've also included one of the layouts that will make up the album. I have three more in various stages of completion. I love how everything is unfolding so far. Thanks for taking a peek.

"Italia Journey" in Somerset Memories (feb/march 08)

When one of the editors from Somerset Publications called me and asked me to write a three page article on my circle journey album to be featured in an upcoming issue of Somerset Memories, I was elated! This quickly turned to panic as I had about ten days to write this and get it back to the editor. The journey album of our trip to Italy had been accepted prior to this to be published in the magazine but I had somehow missed the e-mail requesting the article as well. Once the article was written and a couple of my friends proofread it for me, I sent it off and the wait began. Yesterday, the wait was over and my copy of the magazine was delivered to my house. It is back to elation! Thanks Somerset for doing such a lovely job with my Italia album! I love it!

Remember the vintage glass bottle I bought?

The day before Kip and I took our antique journey, I read an article in Somerset Life's Winter 2007 issue about using rub ons on glass. The article was written by Jenny Doh, the editor-in-chief of the Somerset magazines and showed some lovely projects.

So, I added vintage glass and bottles to my list of things for my hunt when we searched the stores. I found one tiny bottle that I loved. This little thing measures a bit over 5 inches with the cork and is about 2 inches wide. What caught my attention were the curved sides that were also flat enough to take a rub on...this I never did.

Today, after cleaning the bottle, I found the perfect rub ons by Bo Bunny (www.bobunny.com). I applied one set of the flowers to the back of the bottle and another to the front. Not satisfied to have a black design only on the bottle, I dug out my Lumiere paints by Jacquard and, with a tiny pointed brush applied the colors. I finished this with some glass leaves I've had for eons. The hat pin and the little watering can just called to me so I let them join the bottle to live happily ever after. Thanks for looking. I'd give this as a gift but I love it too dearly. Off to find more vintage bottles!

Memo to Self/ Maya Road 5 Ring Tab Book

If you are like me, you live on stick pad notes and small pieces of paper stuck everywhere which soon become lost. This 5 Ring Tab Book may be my salvation from the paper imp who takes and hides my essential little notes to myself. There are seven sections to label as need be, each with index cards in between. I also included a small note pad and an itty bitty cute gel pen for those times when the paper imp also runs off with my pen. Rub ons, paper, clips, ribbons, and pretty papers festoon this little helper. It is the perfect size for car, desk or even purse. And, on the back cover, a place for me to list "If Found, please return to____" should the paper imp graduate to bigger objects.
