Welcome to my World with Art Anthology

This month, the theme at Art Anthology is inventions and inventors.  I used glasses as my invention to create. Thanks to the wonderful sprays and paints available through Art Anthology and this wonderful digital "Industrial" stamp from Gecko Galz.  And thanks to whomever invented eye glasses as my world is much clearer with them.  For all the details on how I created this canvas, click HERE.

Just look at the amazing colors I got with just one of the Colorations sprays.

A close up of the digital stamp.

Thanks, as always, for looking.  All comments are greatly appreciated.

A home for the gnome with Art Anthology goodness

My grandchildren love to arrange and rearrange the gnomes who reside in our lower garden.  They often ask where do the gnomes live.  I've answered their question with this one little gnome home.  Now they each want to make one of their own.  This will be fun!

For complete directions and a listing of the amazing Art Anthology products I used to create this little gnome home, check HERE.

A question posed

I recently learned about Inspire Your Heart With Art Day and was inspired by Patience Brewster, an artist and designer of ornaments and home decor, to blog about how art inspires me and how I celebrate art.

My story goes far back to high school when the track I was in did not allow any time for an art or a music class.  My best friend was in art classes and created the most beautiful things.  My mother was artistic and my father was a gifted wood worker and me...no time for art classes.  Instead, I hung out at the St. Louis Museum of Art.

Fast forward to college where an Intro to Art and Intro to Music were required and I loved both.  But, once again, time and class load intervened and it was a long long time til I got to let my creative spirit loose.

When I retired from teaching high school English in 2000, I turned the basement of our townhouse into a place to play.  I indulged myself in paints, papers, photography and any other medium I could find.  I checked out how to books from the library, embroidered table cloths, got into scrap booking, made more cards than I knew people to send them to and painted tiny seascapes for my aunt.

Fifteen years later, I am still largely self taught and am on my 20th and 21st. design teams (Art Anthology and Gecko Galz).  I've taught at conventions and for scrapbook stores here in Florida where my husband and I have lived since 2001 when he retired.

So, what inspires me...pretty things, vintage things, lovely laces and ribbons, a sunny day, a walk on the beach, dreaming of a project and actually seeing it turn out a bit better than ok.

I try to celebrate art daily. My motto is "a day with out creating is a day without sunshine."

So, what is your art story?

Vintage Ladies challenge at Gecko Galz

Our customer challenge for this month is Vintage Ladies.  The digital downloads were amazing this month from Gecko Galz.  I used the can can mademoiselle from gay Par-ee and some of the Paris papers to cover a 12x12 D ring album from Basically Bare.  I printed the paper and can can gal onto canvas and enhanced the color with soft tipped pencils, Liquid Pearls and paints by Art Anthology

Be sure to check out the rest of the Gecko Galz design team's work HERE.  and many thanks for looking.

Gecko Galz goes Industrial

with a whole new, very cool line of Industrial digital stamps.  These are so perfect for Steam Punk, they have to be seen to be believed.  Check them out here.  And what is even cooler is that these stamps are going to be featured in the Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine

The Gecko Galz team was offered a chance to play with these new Industrial stamps and here is my take.  I call this altered piece Bottle Babe or The Clock is Ticking.  And check out the rest of the team's amazing work here.

I used soft pencils and Art Anthology paints to add color to the dress and show off the flowers that adorn it.  The dress is printed onto photo paper and the middle cut out.  I glued it onto a bottle so the front was open.  On the back side of the bottle I glued an enlarged pocket watch and used Art Anthology Vegas Gold Sorbet Dimensional paint to out line the clock.   As always, thanks for looking.
