Trash to Treasures give aways

A)above
B)below

I could not stand it a single moment more...I could not find anything. I had a drawer, a bin, two or even three little bins with slide out drawers and duplicates of everything. So, today, I caved in and actually cleaned, sorted and organized all the little stuff I just had to have, could not live without and absolutely NEEDED at the time.

After all this, I now have one drawer and two bins with slide out drawers and this is what is left. As I am one of those people who can not bear to get rid of things that others might use, if you will email me at eeickmeier@hotmail.com with your name by midnight Sunday, Jan. 29, I'll put your name in the hat for a drawing of either one of these. Please indicate A) or B) in your email and YES! I will pay postage but you have to take the WHOLE thing. FYI: there is a little plastic box in A)that is filled to the brim with buttons, charms, etc all sea themed).

Waiting to hear from you....

A Valentine gift to my grand daughter

I am making a Treasures box for Leighton for Valentine's Day. Now, I know she won't use this for years and years but hopefully her mama will keep it for her. I have finished the lid (I think). I want to line the inside with velvet and a fiber paper and then fill it with vellum envelopes that I "watercolor" and label with such things as "Lock of Hair", "First Lost Tooth" (I have a delightful fairy charm for that one) and a larger one done in crushed patterned tissue labeled "Secrets". Some day, when I am long gone, perhaps she will open her box and think of her Nana.

I used Helmar's 405Quick Dry, the Fabric Adhesive and the Gemstone Glue. I know these hold and hold well. Can you tell I am a real Helmar fan?

Leibster Blog Award

My blogging friend, Kim, gave me this wonderful award.

Please make sure to head on over to her blog and say hello!

This award is given to bloggers with less than 200 followers, in the hopes that it will bring many new friends/followers.

Leibster is German and means 'dearest' or 'beloved' but it can also mean 'favorite'. The idea of the Leibster award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers. So, in the spirit of good fun I am passing this award on to five other bloggers. Please stop by and visit them.

The Rules are:

1. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

2. Reveal your five picks for the award and let them know.

3. Post the award on your blog.

4. Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the blogshare-other bloggers.

5. Finally and the best rule of all..........have fun and spread the love!

My favorites for this award are listed below in no particular order. Click on over to their sites and take a look and please leave them some love! <3

Creating out of my comfort zone

I have only made jewelry once before in my life and, according to a couple of my friends and one lady in a cab line at the Ballagio Hotel in Las Vegas, my necklace was a complete failure.

I think I did better on this one! My friend, Marcia, had several of us over for lunch and beading and I am so happy with my necklace. Jo did a great job as did everyone else. Glo made her friend, Precious, who is a school teacher, the most beautiful lanyard for her ID badge. Sandy's necklace was very vintagy!

For pictures of this most amazing adventure at Marcia's check out my daily blog www.postingfromparadise.blogspot.com

As always, thanks to those of you who read and follow my little blog. I am only 3 or 4 followers away from 100...something I NEVER thought I would ever come close to. Who knows...there may be fun things for the next few who help me get to 100. Just sayin'

Oh and I have a received a blog award that I'll try to post tomorrow and you may be getting one from me...watch and see!

Another pretty place to visit

I have been a subscriber to Victoria Bliss magazine for eons. From the pages which are filled with lovely photographs, I get some wonderful ideas for layouts , tags and projects of my own. And, month after month, I have been wanting to check out one of the webs sites of a store listed in the back: Flights of Fancy.

I am issuing a warning here as well as being an enabler: do not enter the site without your credit card at your side. I need to win the Lottery NOW to get everything I want. Enjoy! I can't wait to get my ribbons, fabrics and trims.

Don't say I didn't warn you!

Playing with pretties

I have not been doing a lot of altered objects work since Christmas but have sure been doing a lot of scrapping. I've completed over 15 layouts just since the first of the year. All are not as elaborate as these two and some are more simple than even the 3rd. one of my son in law napping with his baby daughter.

I am not a chronological scrapper and have not been for several years. Lately, though I have been trying to fill in some gaps from several trips and catch up on the little guys' album. While I have been scrapping with some great new lines and products, thanks to Posh Scraps in Palm Harbor, Fl., I have also been trying to make a dent in my accumulated stash of papers, flowers, ribbons and trims and have been playing with combinations of old and new.

I am also making the first steps towards my grand daughter's treasures box so bear with me.

As always, thanks for looking.

Vintage Valentines

Both my aunt Marion and my great aunt, Maime, saved post cards sent to them by friends and I inherited them. These are mostly from the 1950s and 60s but two are from 1912 and 1916. The embossed ones are my favorite.

If you see any you would like (I've used parts of the images for photo transfers and for embellishments) please help yourself.

I am working on a treasure box for my granddaughter, Leighton Kaye the next few days. I hope to have some samples of the box to post soon. Wish me luck. I'd like this to be special.

Love this sign

and shouldn't we strive to make this place a prettier one in every way we can?

I've been sharing a computer with my honey for the past week or so as my beloved laptop, Vera, caught a nasty bug of the malware variety. It took an exorcism to rid dear Vera of this awful infestation but, thanks to my son, my laptop is humming along ever. I love that boy (um he turned 40 yesterday)

I think I am going to make that sign my creative mantra for this year. So, have a creative day and always remember to Please park pretty!
