Art Abandonment

Recently, in Dundedin, Fl., a group of local artists left small art pieces around the town for others to find and keep.  I thought this was such a wonderful idea, similar to one a friend does with paper back books, leaving them where others can find them.

Yesterday, I received an invitation from Sue Keleman, an artist from St. Louis, to join an amazing group of people who are practicing Art Abandonment.  This group on facebook was started by Michael DeMeng .  He explains his purpose in forming the group here:

My double sided book mark is not new but I've always loved how it turned out.  Now, I am hoping someone else will enjoy it as well.  I abandoned my first piece not too far from my house on a fence that borders a well traveled sidewalk here in my town.  While some of my abandoned pieces will stay here locally, I do plan on leaving others when we travel as well.
I left a note that said, " This is a gift for you.  If you do not want it, please leave it for someone who does or give it to someone who might.  Thank you! and I added this web site.  If you are the one who finds my gift, I'd love to hear if you enjoyed it and what you think of Art Abandonment?

That's a really cool thing to do! I hope if you hear from someone that found your art you will share it with us! I am homebound except for doctor visits but maybe I could leave something in the doctors office or hospital. As I write this I am picturing someone turning it into lost and found, lol.

Someone is going to love this found treasure and it will delight them for days. Hope it will inspire them to "pay it forward".

It's just such a cool concept, Jules!

I just got an invitation to the group, too--this is a wonderful idea, I've seen similar groups online in the past, but never actually joined in before!
