Mini Shadow Box

I've had this mini shadow box (measures 4.5 x 11 inches with the inside boxes about 1 x1)for over three years and would get it out from time to time and then put it away again. This is my play week and I decided to play with this. Painting it with the blues and white wash effect was the most fun for me...I loved how the colors turned out. Deciding what to put where was much much harder. I spent far too much time worrying about how it would look, would it be balanced, would it be appealing and far too little time doing what I liked. This is the part of the process that bogs me down and keeps me from making more progress. Thanks to those who look. To get a better view, click on the image to enlarge.

Now you knew I had to work a vamp in somewhere

I used Lumiere in emerald to paint her dress after I stamped the image on the pre-covered porcelain tag. I love these little 1x2 inch cuties. I used a combination of inks and glimmery sprays to create the glittery background and then patted the color into the porcelain. Thanks for looking (another is below for those have not seen my first one).

Playing with porcelain

I spent a fun morning playing with the different effects of Glimmer Mist, Glitz Spray and inks on porcelain pieces that I have had forever. The Glimmer Mist dries very slowly as the porcelain is absorb resistant to a certain degree. The Glitz Spray dried more quickly. I could stamp with almost any ink and it would dry in place. I'm not sure what I will do with this little one by two inch tag but it I like it a lot.

My Nana's family: The Logans

Nana Album continued

Another page for the album...this one is done with Best Creations paper, an altered book plate and some Stickles for the picture to lighten it. The close up shows the Heidi Swapp metallic rub ons I used on the two corners of the picture. TFL

A work in progress...

This is the antique/vintage ceiling tile I am using for the cover on the dedication album to my Nana. Every time I go to punch the holes for the lovely ribbons, my hand shakes and I have to put the punch down. Hopefully today will be the day and hopefully I will get the holes properly positioned. I've also included one of the layouts that will make up the album. I have three more in various stages of completion. I love how everything is unfolding so far. Thanks for taking a peek.

"Italia Journey" in Somerset Memories (feb/march 08)

When one of the editors from Somerset Publications called me and asked me to write a three page article on my circle journey album to be featured in an upcoming issue of Somerset Memories, I was elated! This quickly turned to panic as I had about ten days to write this and get it back to the editor. The journey album of our trip to Italy had been accepted prior to this to be published in the magazine but I had somehow missed the e-mail requesting the article as well. Once the article was written and a couple of my friends proofread it for me, I sent it off and the wait began. Yesterday, the wait was over and my copy of the magazine was delivered to my house. It is back to elation! Thanks Somerset for doing such a lovely job with my Italia album! I love it!
