Too much fun

I love these wonderful papers by Making Memories. My friend, Linda, gave them to me for Christmas among tons of other things. She drew my name last year for our Stocking Pal Exchange and she went way beyond! and I am glad! lol
Linda owns Hilltop Memories and for information on getting these papers, you can contact her at www.hilltopmemories.com

I've had the chipboard shape (by Sunday International) for a couple of years now. There are small holes as she is meant to hold earrings etc. I covered those, purchased the hat at the craft store and went to town! I added Stickles to the paper to jazz her up a tad and free handed the shoes! This brings a smile to me!

Happy Holidays to all!

Victorian Stroll in Tarpon Springs

The evening of our Stocking Pals Exchange, my little town was holding a Victorian Stroll through our Mayberry-like downtown. Our downtown is mostly, but not all, antique stores and lovely ones at that. I invited anyone from the group to join those of us staying at my house for the Stroll and it was lovely.

I had to post some of the pictures I took as the stores and their owners had gone all out. These are such lovely vintage things, so precious to someone long ago and maybe far away. I long to rescue them all, take them home and give them sanctuary. Alas, both space and income prohibit this. And, I have so many of my grandmother's lovelies that to acquire more would be almost selfish, right?

I did get some fantastic ideas though...watch this space! lol

Happy holidays to all my Vintage Pals!

My second reveal for KnK

I used the oh so pretty papers and a HoHoHo wooden sign I found in a dollar bin to make this. It matches the ornaments I made a short time ago and also a banner I made using a mitten shape for decor in the guest room. Also, see my main blog for a sneak peak at the little Snowman luminary I made for KnK's 12 Days of Holiday Gift Giving. You can get the full directions by going to the new knk blog (www.knkclub.blogspot.com).

As always, many thanks for looking!

Holiday Gifts

I've become addicted to these floating frames and all the wonderful holiday things you can make with them! The directions will be going up on the Kit n Kaboodle blog (www.knkclub.blogspot.com) very soon so I won't list them here. Besides, I want you to visit the blog and see what the rest of the DT is up to...Pam and Chris' projects for the DT's 12 Days of Holiday Gift Giving are already posted with directions and they are both absolutely darling and doable.

So, I'll put my teaser here and you can see how to do it (very very easy)by visiting the KnK blog.

Counting my Blessings

This is still a work in progress. This is Tim Holtz new index mini album out of his wonderful Grungeboard. I used paints, inks, Glimmer Mist and Stickles in this album along with the new Nature shapes also by Tim. I am planning on turning this into more of a journal than a scrapbook album but will add pictures as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to those of us celebrating today and thanks to all who read my blog!

Pearlescent watercolors

I've had a couple of inquiries about where to get the watercolors I used on the Vintage SAnta in the floating frame (scroll down). You can order these through Linda at www.hilltopmemories.com

Thay are amazing!

Making Cards and checking 'em twice

and sending them out to the Naughty and the Nice! I have been playing with some of the things I demo'ed at the crop two weekends ago for Gerri-anne Duke, owner of KnKclub.com. I am so in love with Glimmer Mist and what it can do on Timmy's Grunge board...oh me oh my! I'll up load my mini album tomorrow for your viewing pleasure.

Those of you who know me, know I love to use great products but in a slighly off center way! I like to know that what I am buying has many uses. I used the Glimmer Screens to create the Cranberry Zing Glimmer Misted birdie on the one card. The screen was a swirl. I'll have to post the birdie I did with the butterfly wing soon...he is amazing. On the Cranberry Zing birdie, I highlighted him/her with Timmy's new Distress Stickles...love the color...so deep and rich!. I brushed Stickles onto the dragon fly and added some Heidi Swapp pink gems for the tail.

The papers, Glim Mist, Glimmer Screens, Grunge board Nature shapes, came from KnKclub store. The paper and card stock were part of the Dec. kit.

For more information, email G-a at admin@knk.club.

Back to play for me!

Deep regrets

With a sad heart, I am taking down my Gypsy Rose Paperie CT logo. The site exists no more. I am hoping that Nikki finds peace with whatever happened so tragically to the GRP family. Peace to all. If I had the wherewithal, this is the site I would have wanted to create. My hat is off to you Nikki and all the rest of the gang...and to my fellow CT members, it was brief but a hell of a ride. You are some of the most creative women...thanks for the honor of working with you! and goodbye Gypsy Rose Paperie!

Victorian Santa in floating frame...take two

these are marginally better...at least you can see the glimmer and gold leafing on Santa now! Thanks for looking.

Floating framed Victorian Santa

I spent quite a bit of time on-line hunting for just the perfect (and free) vintage image of St. Nick and finally came upon this one. I used the pearescent watercolor paints from Yasutomo (you can get these at www.hilltopmemories.com...tell Linda Jules sent you), Krylon ink in gold and a dab of Ice Stickles painted on Santa's beard. The paper is from a specialty store in old town St. Charles called Rock Paper Scissors.

I am sorry about the quality of the photo and will try to take a better one when it is daylight. Thanks for looking! I may make a few more of these for gifts or maybe even a RAK?

Have a creative day!

So, we must move on

I am so sad about the GRP tragedy but have no details to share. My prayers are going out to the family but none of us on the DT have heard a word.

I am working on a holiday collage in a 'floating frame' and hope to have it up in a day or two so thanks for your patience in my non-posting lately.

I did do some ornaments so will put them up.

Gypsey Rose Paperie Update

this is a copy paste from the site. And ny prayers are going out to Nikki and the crew!

November 11th, 2008

The Gypsy Rose family has experienced extreme personal tragedy in the last month and will not be releasing another kit.

While we are not prepared to offer a detailed explanation at this time, we recognize that outstanding orders need to be acknowledged.

All outstanding orders have been processed, packaged and are ready for shipment as of today, Tuesday, November 11th, 2008. While we are unable to refund shipping costs, we have included additional items in each package to help compensate for delayed shipping times.

Today is a postal holiday in the United States, so these packages will be processed by USPS tomorrow. All customers will receive an email at that time with delivery confirmation numbers and tracking information.

If you have not received tracking information by Thursday, November 13th, you are welcome to send an email to info@gypsyrosepaperie.com . THIS EMAIL ADDRESS WILL NOT BE ACTIVE OR AVAILABLE UNTIL THURSDAY MORNING, so any emails sent prior to that day will not be received and will not be acknowledged.

The only emails we are responding to at this time are emails concerning orders already placed and not yet received, or orders received incomplete.

Finally, a simple note - please keep in mind that GRP design team members are not considered a part of our administration. They are in no way responsible for orders, maintaining this site, or providing information to GRP customers.

Gypsey Rose Paperie

All of the CT have been very concerned as we have not heard from the owner or her assistant since about Oct. 20. I am hoping that nothing has happened and that there is an explanation for the absence. I am hoping we will hear from Nikki or Missy some time very soon.

Free download from Gypsy Rose Paperie

This is one of the latest of the free downloads we were given from Gypsy Rose Paperie. I printed mine out on a transparency, added Krylon ink around the oval and put it over some wonderful paper I got in Old Town St. Charles, Mo. from Rock Paper Scissors. I had this wonderful frame and it is now a treasured addition to my work room! Thanks for looking.

More goodies coming... I promise

I've been crazy busy getting my class ready for the MS crop (pics on the www.postingfromparadise.blogspot.com blog). And trying to pack for the upcoming Hilltop Memories Creep Over Retreat (www.hilltopmemories.com).

But, I did do my reveal for this Friday for Gypsy Rose Paperier. I know that Nikki Rose, the owner, has been busy too packing the kits to ship! If she doesn't get the upload up, I'll post it here. I had a blast with this one...but then I do with every one of the free downloads we've had so far. I seem to be decorating my house with these yummy goodies.

Time to watch the Rays...and you should see the oh so snazzy tee my honey brought home for me today...maybe a pic later?

Have a good one and GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSS

So they had holiday music playing in the craft store...

and I couldn't get it out of my mind. I know...I know, I am rushing the season. But, if I had my way, we'd celebrate the holidays about 50% of the year. So, you'll just have to bear with me...I'm old, ok? lol

Actually, a friend of mine has a Christmas tree that is quilted, four sided and stuffed. It is darling but I don't have a lot of fabric and, even if I did, I don't sew! This is my version of the her quilted table topper. I free sketched half a tree onto a piece of 8.5x11 chipboard. I made sure that, at it's widest, it was only 6 inches. Using the first as a template, I traced and cut 3 more. After taping them together, I covered them with papers, cut outs from other papers (see the packages at the bottom and the holly leaves, and glitter glued wherever the mood stuck me. The hanging "ornaments" on the bottom branches are, of course, wine glass charms. Now, you know I had to work wine in here some how, didn't you? I'm thinking that small photos might be fun to put on the 'branches' of holidays past?

I had such fun making this. If you would like dimensions or paper names, please drop me an e-mail at eeickmeier@hotmail.com. Thanks for taking a look/see!

Returning you now to your regularly scheduled October!

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore"

I am in that Halloween spirit! (pardon the pun) and played with this cigar box and a black raven I was drawn to at Mike's. I had him perched on the corner of my lap top but he wasn't very happy there. I was forced to cerate a home for him...maybe he will shut up now. What did you say, Mr. Raven? "Nevermore?" Yikes!

Papers by My Minds Eye, Raven from Mikes, spider web die cut designer unknown (got it at the Hilltop Creep Over last year), spider from a party store, bling swirl from Kaiser Craft, key lock, source unknown, paint by C. Helsmith (released at CHA Summer O8, rub ons by BG, LUxe and 7 Gypsies.

Back from vacation

and all my creative batteries are recharged. One thing that helped a bunch was a wonderful little specialty paper store in Old Town St. Charles called Rock, Paper, Scissors! I bought several sheets of amazingly beautiful papers, lengths of lovely ribbons and some things I have not seen elsewhere. One of the things I picked up was a package from Lineco (Books by Hand)that contained all the pieces to do a Sho-Sho Box. What I did not realize at the time was that this was "Just the Pieces". To get directions, you need to buy more than, as the label says, "just the pieces". I could not find anything but a finished one on line so made it up as I went. I don't think it turned out too badly. I have one more package and am sure the next one will come easier!

Be sure to visit www.gypsyrosepaperier.com tomorrow to see my no sew paper sachet (gift bag) with directions.
Have a great Thursday!
P.S. My vacation pics are on my other blog (www.postingfromparadise.blogspot.com).

ROMANZA

Italian, of course! and so close to the English word, romance. We probably stole that from them! Long before I traveled to Italy, I was entranced with all things romantic...the meeting, the glance of eyes, the exchange of sighs, the seduction...(splash...a dash of cold water to bring me back to the topic at hand!). In short, I have always wanted to create the ultimate tribute to ROMANCE...and if this isn't it, I am so close I can taste it.

This is my class for the MS Crop for Hope in November for KnK. Those who take the class (or who want one of the kits...e-mail me)will get velvet, tissue, ribbons, an 8x8x4 paper mache box to hide the album that offers an opportunity to tell all...or not! Ribbons and lace and pearls...what more could a girl ask for? Well, if you have to ask, perhaps you should sign up to take the class or get a kit and find out!

See you at the MS crop!

My interpretation of the download from GRP

This week's challenge for the CT at Gypsy Rose Paperie (www.gypsyrosepaperie.com)was an ad from a women's magazine from the 30s or 40s. I had such fun with this. For information on how I created this and what papers etc. I used, please go to the GRP site, click on the upper left icon and you should see the story behind the creation and the details on how to do this.
